Brooklyn Museum Project

On Saturday, October 19, 2013, The Arts Effect lead members of The All-Girl Theater Company in an arts and activism live/improvised performance as part of BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE STREET.  Devised by Suzanne Lacy and presented by the Brooklyn Museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art and the public arts group Creative Time, the goal of the project was to deliver a complex portrait of today’s feminism through the voices of women and girls who converged on the stoops and in the courtyards of Park Place (Brooklyn) to discuss gender-related aspects of issues like reproductive rights, immigration, and growing-up in the digital age.

We’re so proud to have been a part of the historic exhibition and we’re grateful for the talent, courage, inspiring intellect, and passion of Celia Babini, Maya Blake, Alexa Caban, Martine Fernandez, and Mira Maxwell.
